Dr. Gomes is Vice President of Academic Affairs at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine where she has worked since 1997. She received her master's degree in education technology at San Diego State University in 1997 and her doctorate in educational leadership at the University of La Verne in 2006. In addition to her work at Pacific, Dr. Gomes is a member of the Executive Committee for the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (CCAOM), Co-Chair of CCAOM First Professional Doctorate committee, is a Board member for the Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care along with serving on their Leadership Task Force and Education Working Group. She serves the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine First Professional Doctorate Task Force, is a member UCSD Center for Integrative Medicine, Strategic Advisory Board and Research Committee, the UC Irvine Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine Clinical & Professional Advisory Committee, is a reviewer for the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Service, and is a member of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Assessment Leadership Academy. Her expertise is in national healthcare education standards, higher education accreditation, assessment and program evaluation and integrative medicine. She writes, consults and trains on accreditation, instructional and curriculum design, faculty development, program evaluation and student learning. Dr. Gomes also oversees all doctoral research and teaches Teaching Skills and Leadership Develeopment in the doctorate.
