Vice President, Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE)

Stanley Dawson, DC, LMBT is on the Board of Directors of the Academic Collaborative for Integrative Health (ACIH), is Chairman of the Council of Colleges Special Interest Group (CC Spig), and serves on the Education Working Group for ACIH.  Dawson is currently on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Massage Therapy Education (AFMTE) and serves as the Vice President of AFMTE.

Dawson is a Continuing Educator approved by NCBTMB and is in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Dawson has been a pioneer in the area of integrative health care for 41 years.  He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1975.  He founded the first holistic health center in the southeastern United States in 1978, which included chiropractors, a medical doctor, psychotherapists, a physical therapist, a polarity therapist, a Rolfer, massage therapists, a nutritional counselor, a yoga teacher and several health educators.  In 1978, he developed a biopsychosocial model for integrative health care which is a westernized version of Asian theory, and which was used as a patient education model as well as a model for integrating the health professions. Dawson is a strong advocate of a collaborative, wellness oriented system of integrative health care.
