Dr. Safiya McCarter is a Naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist currently practicing in the state of Maryland. She completed both her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and her Master's in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine at Bastyr University. She completed her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Mathematics at Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, GA.

Prior to relocating to Maryland to practice full-time, Dr. McCarter served as adjunct faculty in multiple departments and as Co-Director of the Daniel K. Church Center for Social Justice and Diversity at Bastyr University. In her role as an administrator and educator she was involved in curriculum design, development and implementation, accreditation standards review and the development and delivery of workshops and trainings. Dr. McCarter is also a skilled facilitator and sought after consultant, on topics regarding diversity, equity and inclusion. She has had the pleasure of presenting on these topics as a featured panelist and conference presenter and has provided consulting and facilitation services in various non-profit settings.

Dr. McCarter currently serves on the boards of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP) and the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC).
