Nichole Reding, MA, CPM, LDM

Board Member, Midwifery Education Accreditation Council
Academic Coordinator, Birthingway College of Midwifery

Nichole represents Direct Entry Midwifery on the ACIH Board via her work as a member of the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC), the accrediting body for midwifery schools in the United States. Nichole is currently the President of the Board for MEAC and has served on committees supporting collaboration with other Midwifery professional organizations such as the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and US-MERA (Midwifery Education, Regulation, Association). Nichole is currently the Academic Coordinator at Birthingway College of Midwifery.  During her fifteen years at Birthingway, she has coordinated both the Midwifery Program and the many certification programs, and has developed the Associates Degree Program for Lactation Consultants. Currently, in her role as Academic Coordinator, she supervises and reviews curriculum for all programs, helps ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements, and supports Program and Faculty Coordinators with their work. She also teaches many core courses in the midwifery program. She has attended two of the three Home Birth Consensus Summits and participated in their Interprofessional Education workgroup. Nichole entered the world of birth a bit reluctantly, but has since become a true convert to the value of choice in birth place and practitioner, as well as the transformative opportunities that birth guided primarily by the mother provides. She still tries to find time to serve individual families as they move through their childbearing year; witnessing the highs and lows of the human experience and holding space as a family makes this extraordinary transition.
